What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is based on the scientific principle that food, as nature intended it, provides the nutrients needed to heal the body and to help bring us back to a state of optimum health and vitality. Although some health complaints require particular medication, there are many that may be effectively relieved with Nutritional therapy. Examples of these are- lack of energy, digestive concerns, headaches, insomnia, forgetfulness and mood imbalances to name a few. Ongoing studies have shown Nutritional therapy can benefit all age groups and can be used to maintain an optimum state of health.

All the pressures of modern lifestyle such as working long hours, deadlines, eating on the run and the speed at which we live can cause the quality of food to become less important. This, unfortunately, puts a strain on the body and in the long run may give raise to ailments. Most supermarkets are stocked with ready meals and snacks which are more often than not low in nutritional value. In turn even though we are eating, we are not giving the body the building blocks needed to maintain health and vitality. Nutritional Therapy uses food and supplements to give the body the nutrients it needs to thrive, while investigating the foods that may be cause adverse effects.

Following a nutritional therapy programme does not mean you have to cut out all the foods you enjoy. It's about making simple, practical changes that become a way of life and put you back in control to give you a natural balanced focus. With Nutritional therapy you will work with your therapist to design a realistic programme that will help you reach health goals. The approach is personal and tailored to your specific needs and adjusts to your environment.

Carpel tunnel syndrome & weight-loss

"I was recommended to Angelique by a very good friend of mine. I had just had a baby and was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. I wanted to lose my 'baby weight', but wanted to make sure I still followed a healthy diet.

I found Angelique to be a very professional person, but at the same time warm and welcoming. I was able to take my baby into the sessions with me which was a great help too. Angelique assessed my diet and lifestyle and spent time explaining and educating me on different foods and what effect they have on my body. She focused on my carpal tunnel and advised me on which foods to avoid to reduce inflammation, but more importantly made me realise that as I was breastfeeding I should be focusing on eating healthily and in turn the 'baby weight' should sort itself out.

I continued seeing Angelique and kept a food diary, I managed to lose a dress size and a few kilo's along the way. My husband and I continue to eat the healthy alternatives we were advised to try and feel healthier than we have ever before."
